Hess Named Next School of Education Dean

Diana Hess, senior vice  president of the Spencer Foundation in Chicago,   has been named the next dean of  UW-Madison’s School of Education.   Hess, who is also a professor in the  Department of Curriculum and   Instruction, will begin Aug. 1. She will replace  Julie Underwood, who   will return to the faculty after a decade of serving as  dean. “We are   fortunate to have someone with Diana’s experience, passion and    commitment to education,” says Provost Sarah Mangelsdorf. “I look   forward to  working with her.”
